- Network Processor Routers (NPRs) (2008)
We added 14 new routers based on Intel's IXP
network processors to the ONL testbed and piloted them
in the Spring 2008 Advanced Architecture course.
This will mean that network processor plugins and
even the routing code itself can be modified by the
user and experiments can be run through the RLI using the
existing paradigm.
The NPRs will be publically available starting in September
2008.
Material in the ONL Tutorial will be developed over the
summer.
Rough drafts will be available over the summer, and final
drafts will be available in September.
- Course Material (2008)
Two successful courses (one a UMass and one at
Washington University) have been using the ONL since
the Spring 2006 semester.
We will be integrating that material as well as new
material into the Course Material section of the
tutorial.
- Router Upgrade (Spring 2008)
Various fixes to the FPX's were made.
These include:
- Proper statistics from Exact Match filters
and Route Table entries
- The ability to match on TCP flags field
(URG, ACK, PSH, RST, SYN, FIN)
when using General Match filters
- Traffic can be sampled with auxiliary filters
by selecting a sampling option
- Other On-Going Work
- NetFPGA
We are experimenting with adding
NetFPGA to our testbed.
- Traffic Generators
- We have beta versions of a hardware traffic generator.
- We are installing SPECweb2005.
